Jacob Trujillo is a proud Burqueño and lifelong Democrat, he is part of a new generation of leaders fighting for strong public schools, working families, and inclusive democracy in New Mexico.
Background and Roots
Born and raised in Albuquerque to two small business owners, Jacob grew up seeing firsthand how public schools, local businesses, and community support shape opportunities for working families. As a young Hispanic leader, he brings the lived experience of New Mexico’s diverse communities into every space he serves.
Professional and Party Leadership
Jacob currently serves as Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico where he helps organize volunteers, support candidates up and down the ballot, and expand participation among young and working-class voters. He also serves as a Field Representative, working directly with communities in Torrance, Valencia, and Santa Fe counties to connect them with federal resources and support.
Service and Values
As an elected DNC delegate for New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District, an active member of multiple Democratic Party of New Mexico caucuses and committees, and a proud union member, Jacob has consistently elevated the voices of young, working-class, and Hispanic New Mexicans. Whether coordinating resource fairs, speaking at public events, or knocking doors for local candidates, he believes politics should be rooted in community, accountability, and tangible results.
Vision for Public Education
Jacob is running for Public Education Commission District 3 to ensure every child in Albuquerque has access to safe, well-funded, and community-centered public schools. He will fight for equitable resources, robust support for educators, and transparency in how decisions are made about our children’s education, so that families and students have a real voice in the future of New Mexico’s schools.
